Dear Ones,

Happy winter!

This fall I received the wonderful and unexpected news that my essay “Lenin” is listed as a Notable Essay in Best American Essays 2015! It’s a lyric piece I wrote about working in Russia in 2003 published in Arts & Letters.

Bustle also chose The Survival Girls as the second in its list of “12 Empowering Books That Will Inspire You To Change Your Life And The World” !  Didn’t see this article when it first came out in September — many thanks to Bustle and E. Miller!

A piece I published this year in Passages North called “Noah’s Tsunami” was reviewed in New Pages. It’s always an honor to know my work is being read and thought of.

My work this year was also nominated for a Pushcart (thank you Tony Ardizzone)!

Last but not least, earlier this month, I played Mrs. Crachit in A Christmas Carol at Carpinteria’s Plaza Playhouse. It was all kinds of fun to work with kids onstage.

Jai-Alai, a magazine of literature in translation, published my translations of Juan Soros’s poetry in their winter issue. Huzzah!

Happy winter!

Yours,

Ming
